Elected members of the Board of the Tucson Table Tennis Club (TTTC) have been empowered by the Club to facilitate table tennis play among TTTC members. As such, club members are required to follow the etiquette and rules of play set forth below. These apply whether using TTTC equipment and facilities at the Armory Park Center or at any other facility set up by the TTTC.
Furthermore, TTTC members are guests at the Armory Park Center and are expected to follow all the rules and regulations that pertain to the facility.
All club members are responsible for set up, take down and clean up of the TTTC facilities.
All matches at TTTC facilities are required to follow specific rules of play:
► Matches shall consist of the best three out of five games.
► If one (or more) players has challenged or is waiting to use the table,
warm-up time prior to beginning a match is limited to three minutes.
► If members chose to practice instead of playing a match, and other players
are waiting to use the table, practice shall be limited to twenty minutes. After
twenty minutes of practice, members waiting for the table may request that the
table be vacated. The initial challenger must yield the table.
► Any player may challenge another player in the club by placing his/her
paddle next to the table. This may not occur when a point is in progress. If
multiple paddles have been set down next to a table, the order in which they
were placed is the order of challenge for that table.
► If one or more challengers are waiting on a table, the winner of the match
may remain at the table and continue to play challengers of that table.
► A winner who does not accept a challenge must vacate the table. The
challenger may then choose a different opponent or play the loser on that table.
► A challenger who removes a paddle from a table and places it next to
another table no longer has a valid challenge to the table from which the paddle
was removed.
► Members may only issue one challenge at a time, and play may not be held up
by participation in another game while waiting.
When a point is in play on a table, whether in practice or a match, members may not:
► Talk to any of the players at the table
► Make comments, hold loud discussions, or make noises that would disturb play
► Enter the playing area for any reason during the point
► Put down paddles in a challenge or ask if paddles may be put down
► Request the return of a ball that has gone into the court area until such time as the point is complete
Members should feel free to remind others of these requirements, and full cooperation is expected of everyone. If a member is out of compliance with the
terms enumerated above, The Board reserves the right to enact sanctions, up to and including prohibition of further participation in club activities.
